Is 14 SEER Energy Efficient Enough?

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, or SEER, is a measurement of how efficient an HVAC system is at converting energy into cooling power. It is given by dividing the total cooling power of a system during a certain timeframe by the energy input (electricity) during the same period. The higher the SEER, the more efficient the system is, and the more energy savings you can expect as a result.

While a higher SEER rating is generally preferable, it may not always be worth the investment. The higher the SEER rating, the higher the cost of the system. Lower SEER ratings come at a lower price point, which might be preferable to some homeowners who only run their cooling systems a few times per year.

When Are Horizontal HVAC Units the Best Choice?

While we also sell multiposition units that are ideal for some people, the 14+ SEER Horizontal HVAC package air conditioners on this page are ideal for installation in locations with limited vertical space. If your home requires a unit to be installed in a cramped space with greater footprint than height, look no further.

Plus, these Goodman electric packaged units feature high efficient compressors, fully insulated blower compartmens and louvered condenser coil protection. Some of them come with 10 year compressor and 10 year parts warranties, and they’re all contained within a heavy-duty, galvanized steel cabinet.

For those that need a little auxility heating capability, these can be equipped with electric heat strips so as to provide both heating and cooling capabilities. If you need air conditioning and heating systems that have greater heating capacity, please see our collection of gas package units (gas packs) that contain gas furnaces.
